Social Enterprise Innovation in Services and Creating Ecosystems of Support Conference

International conference in Hanasaari, Finland, on the 2nd April 2014

The event is being organized by Social Business International (SBI) in partnership with the Hanasaari, Finnish-Swedish Cultural Centre, as a follow-up to the Strasbourg “Empowering Social Entrepreneurs for Innovation, Inclusive Growth and Jobs Declaration of the 17th January 2014.

This practical conference for 240 participants will focus on social enterprise innovation in services and how to develop social entrepreneurship support ecosystems, especially in Scandinavia and the Baltic states. It will focus on the key success factors of markets, money, models and measurement and will facilitate an exchange of knowledge and good practice.

The event has the objective of boosting social enterprise agenda in the context of the EU push on social investment and social enterprise under the Social Business Initiative, including building on the outcomes of the work that took place in Strasbourg and in particular how ecosystems of support for social entrepreneurship can be developed.

There will be a mix of participants from the member states, the EU institutions and other stakeholders.

The event will run from 8 am to 4.15 pm Finnish time with two plenary sessions and five workshops focusing on:

–       Building ecosystems to support social enterprise (double session)

–       Markets: Innovation in procurement, harnessing the power of social enterprise

–       Money: Investment boosting access to appropriate finance

–       Models: Models for growth – scaling innovation in the social economy

–       Measurement: Social impact measurement – theory and practice

The outcome of this event will be a series of practical suggestions to facilitate social enterprise to reach its full potential using Finland as a model, identifying the key factors for success. These will include a Finnish social enterprise template and a social enterprise manifesto for the next Governmental Programme.  This process is also aimed to support other member states that are interested in developing enabling ecosystem for social enterprise.
