Having spent the last year working on key growth issues for social enterprises delivering public services, that is the Ms: of Markets, Money and Models  (click to download the E3M Annual Review 2012) we are delighted to be launching the “E3M Social Enterprise Growth Seminar Series” which is sponsored by CaSE Insurance.

From November 2013 to March 2014 we will be running three seminars featuring different aspects relating to social enterprise growth. They are aimed at: CEOs and senior staff of social businesses that trade in public service markets including: social enterprises, trading charities and public service mutuals, but are also open to others with an interest in the growth of successful social enterprise.

The seminars are:

20 November 2013 – Finance for Growth

An exploration of the different financial models available to established social enterprises to support growth that can finance working capital, asset acquisition and payment by results contracts.  This will cover different kinds of equity and quasi-equity and a range debt solutions including unsecured loans, tiered deals, listed & non-listed bonds and Social Impact Bonds.

5 February 2014 – Models for Growth

This event focuses on the different business and legal models that can be used to facilitate growth. This includes, mergers & acquisitions, joint ventures & consortia, franchising & replication models and how insolvencies can be an opportunity for growth.

26 March 2014 – Jobs and Growth: Harnessing the Potential

The experience of many E3M social enterprises is that in addition to transforming local services, they are creating jobs and opportunities for people in the communities they serve. This seminar will look at some of the best examples of apprenticeships, training and employability schemes and how they can be explicitly built into public service contracts to provide social value to public commissioners.

Learning and Networking

The seminars have been developed to promote both learning and networking opportunities. Each event will feature a mix of expert speakers and feature practical cases studies drawing on the experience and knowledge of the E3M members and partners.

We are especially pleased that Baker Tilly have joined E3M as a supporting partner and will be bringing their skills and knowledge alongside our founding partners: Bates, Wells Braithwaite, Unity Trust Bank and the University of Northampton.

The seminars run from 10.00 – 16.30 and include a networking sandwich lunch. All three seminars will take place at Bates Wells Braithwaite’s prestigious venue at Scandinavian House, 2-6 Cannon St, London, opposite St Pauls Cathedral.
